Jamie Jay Johnson BIOGRAPHY

Jamie is a multi award nominated and occasional award winning director & writer based in London.

He scraped through St Martin's Art School with graduation projects including setting fire to his pants (whilst wearing them) outside Calvin Klein Bond St, raving in a giant papier mache pigeon in Trafalgar sq and trying to sell motorists portraits of their cars at the traffic lights on the Great West Road.
Robert Saville saw these idiotic projects and hired Jamie as a creative at Mother where the BritArt campaign he co-created with his then creative partner, Kim Gehrig miraculously won a D&AD Gold award.

However, Jamie was lured by the bright lights and low budgets of late night TV and went on to make docs, animations, shorts and features about medievally wooing Swedish Princesses, a love of Breakfast Cereals, a Holiday Around his Bedroom, the MiniGolf World Championships, Karl Pilkington Idiot Abroad'ing, The Junior Eurovision Song Contest, C4's FreshMeat student houseshare, Cardinal Burns preening, a father/baby-daughter duo with a home-weaponised buggy, eco tooth brushing, people who own A.I. robot dogs and the slowest ever swimmer in Olympic history.

At some point Jamie won both BBC documentaries and Film4's feature development prizes and was selecteed as a Screen International 'Star of Tomorrow'.

Jamie's first feature film 'Sounds Like Teen Spirit' was released in cinemas across the UK by Warner Music Entertainment after winning the Dinard International Film Festival Hitchcock D'Argent Audience Award and Special Jury Award at the Seattle International Film Festival.

Jamie has worked with some of his favourite comedy talent including Steve Merchant, Karl Pilkington, Jack Whitehall, Jamie Demetriou, Tash Demetriou, Flight of the Conchords' Rhys Darby, Adam Buxton, Robert Bathurst, Katy Wix, Tim Key, Hammed Aminashaun, Ricky Gervais, Joe Thomas, Nick Mohammed, John Thompson, Tom Davis, Charlotte Ritchie, Daniel Simonsen, Julia Davis, Noel Fielding, Julian Barratt, Evelyn Mok, Cariad Lloyd, Cardinal Burns and People Just Do Nothing's Steve Stamp and Asim Chaudhry.
